This class will introduce students to the concept of 3D plaster mask-making. Each student will have the opportunity to use their artistic creativity to design fun, unique, one-of-a-kind, colorful masks. During the class, students will be creating two masks: a human mask, based on world cultural designs, and an animal mask, based on a creature from the animal kingdom. Students will learn all of the necessary components needed for creating plaster face masks. Students will discover painting techniques for decorating 3D surfaces. We will discuss overall color choices, pattern, and design. Students will also study techniques for adding decorative elements around the outside of their masks to create finishing touches.
