Hamilton, Ohio – Ask yourself one question.
Why do I Fitton?
For some, the answer lies in thrilling live performing-arts events and inspiring visual art exhibitions. For others, it may be StreetSpark, the acclaimed mural program beautifying the city.
Still others enjoy classes, workshops or making free crafts at enormous community events like Operation Pumpkin. Maybe it’s as simple as feeling welcomed and valued.
The Fitton Center for Creative Arts asks people to consider the question as it launches its 2023-2024 Annual Campaign.
“We strive to make high-level art, entertainment and education accessible, affordable and fun,” said Ian MacKenzie-Thurley, Fitton Center Executive Director. “However, we can’t do it alone.
“We invite the community to help continue and expand the good work we’ve done in the City of Hamilton, Butler County and across the Southwest Ohio region for three decades.”
Development Manager Arnita Gunn said the 30th Anniversary Season felt like an appropriate time to resurrect an annual campaign program that had been dormant for a few years because of - and coming out from under – the global pandemic.
The initial goal for the campaign is $75,000, which will support day-to-day operations at the Fitton Center.
“If we have 1,000 people each give $30, we are almost halfway to our goal and we have increased support for the arts,” Gunn said. “Every donation is important for continued success. We are celebrating 30 years because our community shared its love for the impact the Fitton Center has had. That love and that sharing will drive our growth for the next 30-plus years.”
As important as the monetary gifts, Gunn hopes to engage and energize the community with their stories.
“Hearing stories of ‘Why do I Fitton’ is so important,” she said. “We all have our whys. Knowing why our patrons come back time and time again helps us stay focused on our mission as we do the work every day. Your stories amplify the impact and – hopefully - encourage others to find their why as well.”
