Liberty Township, Ohio – The walls at Liberty Center’s Foundry Building are about to get a makeover.

Specifically, the addition of more than 300 pieces of art created by students representing every grade in Lakota Local Schools.
The ambitious Colors of Creativity Lakota Art Showcase launches with an opening celebration from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at the Fitton at the Foundry studio space on the second floor across from the Build-a-Bear Workshop (7100 Foundry Row, Liberty Township, Ohio 45069).
“Liberty Center is thrilled to host this art exhibit, showcasing the amazing talent of the local Lakota students,” said John Taylor, Senior General Manager of Liberty Center. “This partnership with Lakota Schools and the Fitton Center for Creative Arts reflects our dedication to supporting the arts and providing a space where the community can come together to celebrate creativity.”
The exhibition is free and open to the public during Liberty Center hours. Artwork will be on display on the first floor of the Foundry Building through April 10.
“We are thrilled to partner with the Fitton Center for Creative Arts and Liberty Center for Colors of Creativity,” said Lakota Superintendent Dr. Ashley Whitely, superintendent. “We have incredibly talented artists in our schools and appreciate the opportunity to shine a light on their work through this collaboration.”
The Fitton Center for Creative Arts moved into the Foundry last summer and started hosting classes in its first satellite location in September 2024. The success of the classes and the enthusiastic partnership with Liberty Center inspired the conversations that led to the exhibition.
“We’re a community arts center,” said executive director Ian MacKenzie-Thurley. “Working with Lakota Schools and Liberty Center helps us expand deeper into our community here in Butler County. It helps bring the arts into parts of our community where they haven’t been before now. This is a wonderful opportunity for all three organizations and, of course, these incredible young artists.
“Statistically, not many of them will go on to professional careers in the arts, but all of them will have had the experience of having their artwork professionally and publicly displayed. Our hope is that this experience will help foster a life-long appreciation for the arts.”
The Fitton Center for Creative Arts is located at 101 S. Monument Avenue on the Riverfront in downtown Hamilton, Ohio.
