Fitton @ the Foundry

(Liberty Township, OH) – The Fitton Center for Creative Arts is moving east.

No, the community hub is not leaving Hamilton. It is, however, expanding to open its first-ever satellite location in Liberty Center’s Foundry Building (7100 Foundry Row, Liberty Township, Ohio 45069) for fall classes.

Fitton at the Foundry – roughly 2,500 square feet of studio space, plus a storage area and restroom - celebrates its ribbon cutting at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, at store #208. The second-floor location is above the Footlocker store and across from Build-a-Bear Workshop.

The ribbon-cutting event features live art demonstrations and previews for fall class offerings, as well as comments from local and regional government and business leaders.

“This is an amazing opportunity for the Fitton Center to better serve our region,” said Ian Mackenzie-Thurley, Fitton Center Executive Director. “Our partners at Liberty Center have been incredibly welcoming to us and we’re excited to bring arts education into their amazing facility.

“This has been in the works for a long time and we couldn’t be happier to finally take this step into Liberty Township. That we’re coming into this vibrant community with the full support of our partners in Hamilton speaks to how well we’ve served the city for 30-plus years. We are thrilled to wave the Hamilton flag and build this bridge with our neighbors.”

The demand for quality arts education is evident.

“We’ve had big crowds making crafts with us at annual events like Liberty Fall Fest,” said Kate Rowekamp, Fitton Center Director of Education and Outreach. “We’ve seen great numbers during our monthly Creative Arts in the Park days at Fort Liberty Playland each of the last few summers.

“Our classes for Fitton at the Foundry will be an extension of that. We think it’s important to bring the arts where people are, which we’ve been doing with our outreach and engagement programs for years. The location may be new, but the excellent instruction and commitment to giving students a rich creative experience is not.”

The Fitton Center for Creative Arts is located at 101 S. Monument Avenue on the Riverfront in downtown Hamilton, Ohio.
