Hamilton, Ohio - The Fitton Center for Creative Arts re-dedicated a pair of sculptures now gracing its grounds.
City of Sculpture relocated Mallory Feltz’s “Complexity” to the main entrance of the Fitton Center to serve as centerpiece for its new sculpture garden. Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park & Museum sent Obie Simonis’ “Trilogy” to replace “Baroque Trajectory,” which occupied the East Plaza of the Fitton Center the previous several years.
The afternoon ceremony on September 19 drew representatives of both organizations - along with Feltz herself - and many additional guests.
Executive Director Ian MacKenzie-Thurley expressed gratitude for trusting the sculptures to the Fitton Center.
"We are fortunate in Hamilton to have organizations so invested in public art and generous enough to share their art with us, where new and different audiences can see it," he said. "We are proud to partner with them and to give these pieces a new place for people to enjoy them."
Feltz said City of Sculpture's belief in her work as a just-out-of-school artist in 2006 was invaluable. She added her piece looked at home in its news environs (a sculpture garden designed and installed by Andy Weltzer of Lifestyle Landscape Solutions).
President Tyler McCleary spoke on behalf of City of Sculpture, while Sarah Templeton Wilson - Executive Director at Pyramid Hill and chair of We Art Hamilton – said collaboration is key to sustaining the arts in the area.
