Veteran performer

Turns out Irving Berlin was a night owl.

If the audience at Canary in Combat Boots November 11 had any doubt, it only had to hear Alexis Cole sing Berlin's ode to sleep - "Oh! How I Hate to Get Up in the Morning" - for proof.

Cole captivated the Fitton Center Jazz & Cabaret audience with a special Veterans Day performance. She wove her story of joining the military to sing in the U.S. Army Band with WWII-era standards, contemporary tunes and patriotic songs perfectly suited to celebrate all who serve.

Take a listen to some of Cole's singing and enjoy a few pictures in the photo galley below.

Meantime, make plans to join us when the Jazz & Cabaret series continues in March for A Night of Monk & Mingus. Tickets are available right here. And don't forget the series finale - Drag Show 3: Through the Decades - coming in May. Tickets for that are right here.
